Blocks a plenty
In an attempt to swap with every member, I am doing a run of double swaps, this month my partners are Helen P and Erin B. as it turns out Erin and I were also partnered in the Christmas swap.
Here are their blocks......
A country colours friendship star for Helen, complete with chooks, can't get more country than chooks.
And any star in any colours for Erin, so I chose a twist in the friendship star, in one of my favourite colour ways if green and pink.
If you want to see Erin's Christmas block you better hop on over to that blog.

Tropical block
My partner for July was Lorna who sent me a block in my new colours of aqua, grey and orange, ans what pretty block it is.
The was also some extra fabric and a sweet card purse.
I also wanted to share this nifty little quilt block tool that I have come across (and ordered).. It's called the quick and easy block tool and its a flip out cutting guide for 102 popular quilt blocks with cutting instructions in 5 sizes per block. Perfect for block swap group members.
It also has reference guides for fabric requirement, it cost 21.95 + postage from Ozquilts, but I think money well spent and will be an invaluable tool.

July blocks...
Today I received my Churn Dash block from Noelene... thanks very much....
... goes perfectly with my others...
I sent Noelene this Braced Star....
I have to admit I really struggled with this one and this was my third version.... first time ever I was ready to give up with a block... it's effective though - I like her choice of the black and yellow

Mystery Block
This is the block I received on Friday (some cute fabric too) - it will go beautifully with the others ♥
Really sorry I don't know who to thank - DD opened the mail (3 squishy parcels) and put the envelopes straight into the recycling as it was bin day (not usually that efficient LOL)

Give Away Time
As mentioned some time ago, we are celebrating reaching 200 followers at Quilting block Australia. It's really lovely that some if our past swappers have rejoined, and others still comment in our blog and Facebook page and stay in touch with us.
Again, a huge thank you and hugs to the very gorgeous Eve from fabric direct for donating this pretty set of Anna Bella for our give away. There are five 25 cm strips of fabric in this set.
I recently made a purchase from Eve and asked if she would be so kind as to sponsor us again and she was more than willing to do so, so lets reward her with some online shopping fun at Fabric Direct

To enter the give away, simply pop a comment in this post telling me what sewing tool you cannot live without, for me it's a good pair of sharp scissors.
Entries close at 5pm next Friday 19th July and the winner drawn by random org. I will announce the lucky winner on Saturday 20th July next. Entry is open to all current and past members of Quilting Block Swaps

July ................
My July partner is Kelly who asked for Ohio Star, in pinks. I made a block in 2 fabrics, and had to make another, this time using 4 fabrics. It is wonderful, the different look achieved by a different arrangement of fabrics or colours. These are the blocks I made and sent -
and this is the gorgeous pinwheel Kelly sent to me.
I think I'll have to change my selection next month - my collection of pinwheel blocks will make a beautiful quilt with a purple theme. There is some purple in each block, sometimes a little, often lots - and they are all stunning.
Thank you so much Kelly for this month's block. Thank you everyone who has stitched a pinwheel block.
Hugs, Jan

Bear paws for Ruth
I ended up with a double swap this month as one of our members has had some unfortunate family health scares that needed her attention, so I stepped in and took over the swap for her.
Her partner was Ruth who is saving bear paws in rich earthy tones.
This is a pattern that I love making and had fun with it, it will be in the post tomorrow.

Lemon liquorice
Last night I stitched the binding on this gorgeous block swap quilt which I have named lemon liquorice.
Thank you to all of my swap partners that contributed to blocks in this quilt. It's a great example of by just picking a colour range and letting your partner choose what they make you and they all tie in perfectly together. I still have a few blocks in this colour rage, and they are all stars so I will continue to save stars in this colour for a second version.
You can see the full layout of the blocks in an earlier post ( when it was a flimsy).

June ....and May
My swap partner for June was Jan and she asked for a pin wheel block, so this is what I sent her.
This is the beautiful depression block she sent me, she had also made me a coaster and enclosed a coffee and a tea. Yumm!
I know I should have ironed it, but I like it anyway.
And I haven't blogged about my May swap. This is the stunning block Fiona sent me!
I forgot to take a pic of my churn dash for her so this pic is borrowed from her
Thank you ladies for the lovely blocks!
