That was the best 2 days ever even though I had to totally rearrange my home and have only now got it all back to where it should be ... my sewing room did not know what hit it ... it had little girls sleeping in there haha ..... And I only just got my home back I WIN your GIVEAWAY  .... My month could NOT have gotten any better ....

Thanks for all the work you do on the block swap ... I love my swaps and am looking forward to getting back into them in the October round ....

Here is a pic of the wonderful prize I recieved ... 3 gorgeous fat quarters ... a lovely little label panel and my oh so wonderful 12½ inch square ruler ...

Spring and September swaps

Hi Ladies

I know I am a bit late in posting this, but am about to send of the emails for the September swap partners. Its been a busy weekend with family commitments, but Spring is certainly in the air here with some beautiful weather.

Please remember to contact your swap partner as soon as you can to confirm details, before you go ahead and make their block.

Sadly this month we farewell quite a number of members that cant continue with the swaps,
so its good by to :
Alethea from New Zealand
Bobbie from Queensland
Sylvia from Canada
Angie from Kentucky
Julie from New South Wales
Leona from Florida
Gina from London and
Sandi from Florida

I dont normally do a farewell message, as its usually only one or two a month but with such a large group saying good bye I thought I would do this publically so we can all say farewell.

We also welcome new members swapping with us for the first time,

Billy from Williamstown Victoria,
(member of 6 inch and Christmas groups)
and Jane from Coffs Harbor NSW
Welcome ladies.

Hopefully the departing ladies can return again in the future when life gives them some more time to swap.
Even with these losses we still have 47 members taking part this month with only one member sitting the swap out for the month.

if there is any of our new followers out there thinking of joining now is the time to email me as we cap the membership of group one at 50 (or so).  I have ladies on standby happy to do double swaps with new members as they join.

Happy sewing everyone, Quilted Hugs, Sue

And the winner is...............

Congratulations to Bobbie from Towoomba in Qld.
Bobbie has been a member of the group, but had to put swapping on hold for awhile, but still remains a follower.  Hopefully Bobbie can rejoin the group again soon.

I am pleased to say that we surpassed 100 members, and as I write this we in fact have 114.  An amazing effort on all of the ladies that blogged about it and got the good word out.  The actual numbers were 27 new followers since I first blogged about trying to reach the target only a little over a week ago - AMAZING.

Bobbie, your 12 1/2 inch ruler, and some fat quarters will be posted to you on Monday, I will email you shortly to confirm your postal address.

Now, we have all these lovely new followers we want some new members.

We have four groups running that you can join, and they are all free and FUN.

Simply email me at quiltingblocksaustrali@hotmail.com to register to join.  Details on how the groups run are on a page bar at the top of the main blog.

You can join one of the 12 inch groups, the Christmas group or the 6 inch group.

Now that's done, its off to make some quilt blocks, quilted Hugs everyone, xx

Find us on Face book

Yes, we do have a facebook page.....

I created this the same time I started the blog and group in April 2010, and completely forgot about it, and have not added or updated it in all that time.

This week, funnily enough I have had 3 likes on the page, so I have revamped it, added in a few more pictures and invited all Quilting block members to pay it a visit.

if you search for Quilting Block Swaps Australia it should come up.

Since posting this, I now have 8  10 12 likes on the page

June and July Blocks

This great block was made by Fiona ,thanks so much Fiona I love the block as well as the colors and fabric choices . I am sorry it has taken me so long to post this as this was a block for June but because of the postal strike in Canada it took a while getting her but I have had it since sometime in July but believe me that month was a complete wipe out for me .
Then I received this great block from Doris(no blog) for the July block and I also love her choices of fabrics and colors , so different from Fionas but equally as beautiful , Thanks so much Girls for these wonderful addition to my blocks . I will try to be more prompt in posting this month .

Starry eyed

My Californian star arrived today- its great Linda, thank you.  It makes the perfect centre block for my planned quilt.

And here are all of my blue and white stars so far, as you can see I have been saving these in the 6 inch group as well.  I think I need to get one more red with a four patch centre to comlpete these - and then a few more little ones for the border.  Dont they look great !
I love the cherry reds and the bright blue.

Leanne's August Log Cabin

I am off to Belgium to visit our son on Friday, so Leanne's block for August is finished early.

I am posting it tomorrow Leanne so watch out for the mailman!
Hope you like it.

Some More Inspiration

Sue reminded me of the lovely Selvage Blog site.....  I have also been collecting my selvages .... I am almost at the stage where I can make a small something with them......

A site I have only recently found and been enjoying... which has lots of blocks is 15 minutes play..... I love the blocks that have been made with scraps.....  There are a couple of block challenges if you like (I haven't built up the courage yet!) and some tutorials too......

I am thinking that when I have a collection of my Wonky Square Eye Spy I might ask for scrappy blocks like some of these??????

Victoria - who writes the blog has another called Bumble Beans which is from her business... she is obviously a very busy and inspirational quilter and teacher......  On this blog there is also links to block challenges and tutorials.

All the blogs I read are inspirational ... and I feel quite bad to highlight some rather than others... but I found these unique in creative ways to use up 'scraps' and small pieces which may otherwise be binned.....

Have a lovely weekend....

SELVIDGE QUILTS

Have you ever wondered what to do with all of the selvidges that you trim off your quilting fabrics,

well take a look here for some amazing uses and inspiration

Since finding this blog I have been saving my selvidges to create something special one day.

Just thought you would like me to share this with you.

Do you have any interesting quilting blogs that you follow?  Feel free to pop the details of them on here with links so we can all be inspired by the array of talented quilters in this wonderful world of ours.

Hugs, Sue

Sue Stubbings of QBSW(2), Thank You.

Hi everyone, received this amazing Spool Block from Sue, and I must say that she really have an 'eye' for fabric co-ordination. I especially love the fabric used for the 'threads'. Thanks so much Sue. Great, great job. It is nice to be able to help out our 'sister-group'and even nicer when the 'results' are very rewarding.

Heather's July block

Heather received my block last week but, as I've been on vacation I only read her post today. Here's the block I sent her. A log Cabin in white and blue with a yellow center. Just as she requested.

Bobbie's block from Brenda ...

I just love the black and whites ... those colours together are always so classy ...
and the red centre always sets it off beautifully

and Brenda also sent me a wee little block too ... it will go nicely with the others that I play with .
