How to JOIN quilting block swaps Australia
Hello and thank you for visiting. This is a community group for all Australian quilters to join or just follow. Membership is FREE and you are partnered each month and we make each other a 12 inch quilt block based on our preferences which we swap. (12.5 inches raw edge to raw edge) The emphasis of the group is on friendship and sharing. To find out more or register to join email me on quiltingblocks@hotmail.com This purpose of this blog is to chat and showcase blocks and quilts made by members, kind of like a show and tell . Yours in stitching, Sue

March partners on their way
I will start to send out the March partners for the 12 inch swap of group one today, some this afternoon and more this evening (as we are paying another visit to see the twins).
Please remember to make contact with your swap partner to confirm choices and colours before making the block and notify me if any of your preferences have changed.
We have 43 swappers this month with a couple of members on hold for various reasons, I am also welcoming new member Helen for WA. I received enquiries from 3 new members in the past week and passed 2 of them onto Alex to join group 2. As the group one membership has dropped below the 50 mark I will be sharing the new membership enquiries that I receive with Alex.
March also is the start of the new 6 inch group. So far we have 11 members registered for the first swap and partners for that will be sent out mid month. Several of these members are completely new to this group so a big welcome to them. So if you have been thinking of joining email me soon so I can get the partners all organised. Once the standard swap is all underway I will be sending out invites to members of the 6 inch group to post on the blog to so keep a look out for that in the coming weeks.
Enjoy your swap for March everyone,
Quilted hugs, Sue x

February Block Received
Look at what the post man brought for me earlier this week.
It's a gorgeous block from my swap partner Rosemary.
I really really love it. It will work well with the other blocks I've received. Thanks Rosemary.
I also wanted to mention a GIVEAWAY I have on my blog for Australian residents.
Not sure if this is okay to mention here, but if it's not let me know and I'll remove it. Thanks :-)

NEW 6 INCH GROUP OFF AND RUNNING
Well I am pleased to say that I have had an enormous response to the 6 inch block group, it seems a lot of you agree that the smaller blocks will fit in better with scrappy quilts and can be added to borders or corners on quilts using the bigger blocks so there is a real need for them.
If you are interested in joining click on the side button of this block to the side to read how to join up. As of posting this I already have 6 members joined - one complete newby from the Netherlands so a big quilted hugs welcome to Anneke, and of course to all the other ladies that have joined as well. With the help of Crafty Pugs there will be a new button link to this blog, so if you have captured this one you will need to replace it when the new one it up and running,
If you have posted a comment on this blog about wishing to join, I still will need you to formalise this with an email giving me your block choice and colour choices so I can put the details on the data base.
The first group of swap partners will be emailed out in mid March 2011.
Have a lovely weekend everyone and I hope you get lots of sewing done, I certainly plan to.

My February partner
Thank you to the lovely Tarnyia for my gorgeous shabby chic star, I LOVE IT. Especially the lovely soft pink with roses, very pretty. I think I have enough blocks now to start thinking of putting a quilt together but first I want to collect a few 6 inch in shabby chic to make the quilt more interesting.
From Canada to Portugal
Today I received not one but two blocks from my February partner Sylvia who lives in Calgary.
I love them, the fabrics are awesome. I'm really lucky!!!

IDEA FOR A NEW SWAP GROUP
Hi Ladies, as most of you would know I have been running this group now for almost 12 months, then I introduced a Christmas swap and looked after that for a few months before Crafty Pugs offered to take over the reins. I then capped the membership of the group when it got to 50 members and Alex started up group 2 for all new and future members.
I have been having thoughts about a similar group making smaller 6 inch blocks per month, so we can make table runners, nursery quilts or busy quilts with lots more block in them or to mix and match the 12 inch blocks with 6 inch blocks in a quilt.
There is a poll on the side bar of this blog to vote on this idea and please comment below if you would be interested in this group. Membership would be open to all members of group one and group two as well as the Christmas group.
Personal invites to the new group will be sent out with the swap partners for March emails. But if you are not a member of group one please email me to register to sbelleli@bigpond.net.au
I look forward to your feedback on getting this one up and running.

Tarnyias Star
Two down and one to go, I have finished by Christmas Star for Brigette (see Christmas blog), and now I have just finished Tarnyias star in this group.
