Welcome Teresa from Portugal :)

Tonight we welcome Teresa to our quilting community.
Teresa is from Portugal and has been following some of our members blogs and decided to join us.

Cheryll will partner Teresa for December and I am sure she will make her feel welcome as we all will.

Neighbouring States.

My November swap partner was Val  from Victoria and her block arrived at my door today. It will be perfect for my project so a big ThAnK YoU goes out to her. Val was very thoughtful, going above & beyond, as she enclosed a chocolate with a chocolate printed card.
I look forward to enjoying the Lindt later this evening!  yummm

I'm from New South Wales so Val and I are fostering good relations between states exchanging these wonderful little blocks. Val was kind enough to let me know that she had received her block earlier this month but I waited to post both blocks together. Val said she was pleased with my choice so now we are both HaPpY little QuiLtErs.

Merry Christmas Everyone

To Sue/AU from Gina/UK

This is my first block to Sue in South Australia

I have tried to use the colour Sue requested - but bear with me since the UK Countryside Autumn lights/colours can mislead anyone :)...
Although a bit delayed for the November SWAP, still I hope Sue will like it when she gets it.

Welcome 2 new members for December

Thanks for all of your supporting messages, I didn't intend to have a whinge so please forgive me.  I have to say almost all of the emails I get are positive so I should not dwell on the odd grizzle.  It has been an absolute pleasure for me to run this group and make all of these new friends from far and wide.

On that note, a big welcome to 2 new members swapping for the first time in December,
Fiona Robinson from Queensland
and
Anorina Morris from NSW
WELCOME

DECEMBER SWAPS TO BE SENT

Hello everyone, Its that time of the month again when I send out your partners for the next months swap.
I will be starting to get these emails off this afternoon and again this evening so keep a look out for them.

It saddens me to hear that some of our blocks are not reaching their destinations, and it has been suggested that we perhaps send them by registered mail.  This is up to the individual as it can add to the cost of the exercise, especially to those overseas.  I will leave it up to you if you choose to do that or not.

Its really important that when you receive your email from me with your swap partners details that you touch base, not only to say hi and confirm preferences but also mailing details and so on.  And let me know if I have any of these details incorrect so I can amend my data base.

Some times I do receive emails from members that are a bit snappy, because they have not heard from their partner yet, or their block choice was wrong.  It upsets me when I get these because I do my best and offer my time to run this group but the odd mistake may happen.  Remember too that not everyone, including me can be online everyday.  Some members may only access their email once per week so be patient in relation to this.

Have fun with your December swaps, we have a number of members sitting out this month and  I look forward to welcoming you all back on board in January.

Quilted hugs, Sue xx

Val's Block

Well this one will be in the mail on Monday, I have just finished it up and had to confirm the mailing address as I don't want another situation to as Tarnyia's Missing Block.

So here is Val's Sneak a Peak of her block from me, the Frozen Canuck-Shauna

Tarnyia's Missing October Block

Well I am very very sad that some how Tarnyia's Block has gotten lost in the mail.  I really would have never thought this would have happened as I sent a lot of mail and everyone has received their packages except this one...
I thought that I would share the picture as my sister is kind enough to let me use her Computer for the night to get everyone caught up on my life.
Sneak a Peak
Nine & Stars
This is what the block would have looked like if it would have shown up.  I will be working on an other block for Tarnyia, and if by a chance she does get this one, well then she will have 2 blocks for this Frozen Canuck!

I hope that you will except my deepest apologies about this, Shauna

Melody sent me a cup of tea

I am a lucky lucky girl today as Melody's block arrived in the mail with a bounty of goodies.
Melody hand appliqued a sweet tea cup with flowers and a butterfly to go with my blue and white china theme.  I think this one will have to be the centre piece.

I also received a stunning card, 2 pieces of blue and white fabric, a length of blue ribbon and a little pack of assorted blue buttons.  How did Melody know I collect buttons.  I have jars of them, So Christmas has really come early.  Thank you so much Melody xx

Marie's Crazy Paper-Pieced Block

Marie joined early this month and I answered the call to send a paper-pieced block.

Marie asked for a certain Carol Doak block, but it was a 7" block and we are making 12" blocks.... so I reduced the pattern by 91% to make it a 6" block and made 4 of them, then I joined them together to make a 12" square.

VERY hard to give this one away!

Cheers...Jewells

First block off to the UK

This is the block I have made for Gina our first British resident member.  Gina requested something bright and cheery and a star, so this gave the opportunity to use some of the lovely bright Japanese prints I had in my stash.  As I speak its winging its way to London.

Brigettes Star has arrived

Thank you Brigette for making me this gorgeous Shabby chic star.  You have interpreted the style beautifully and I love the way you have fussy cut the centre flower and the gorgeous water colour prints matched perfectly with the paisley. I also wanted to say how lovely it is to receive a hand written letter.  Seldom these days do people take the time to do this.  I look forward to receiving the letters, postcards and notes that often accompany the blocks (almost) as much as I look forward to receiving the blocks

Brigette, I have posted your block to you but only a couple of days ago,  I carried it around with me all week and never seemed to make it to the post office.  Bust rest assured it is on the way. x

Leenas Block from Linda

Leena has asked me to pop this on the blog for her:

Leenas comments on the block are :
She did a very great job of it. Smart choice of fabric combination and her 'on-points' are perfect. Definitely a professional quilter!

More sewing done ;-)

I finished my November Block swap this morning for Alethea in NZ.

Alethea asked for square blocks in cream, white lace blue/white.  I hope that lace blue is a very light, soft blue ;-)

here is a snippet

Alethea, your block will be in the mail on Monday.

Julie and Leena's Blocks to Each Other

It was a "good" mail day today, as Leena's block arrived here. As I don't have a theme, Leena sent me a "Blazing Arrow" block in my favourite colour:

Since receiving her block, I have change my theme from "anything" to Blue and/or yellow, or both.

I posted my block of "Card Tricks" off to Leena today:

Cheers...Julie

Two new members and our first from the UK !!!!!!!

A big warm welcome to our two new members with double the reason to Celebrate.

Firstly welcome to Marie from Victoria.  Marie is a big fan of paper piecing and foundation piecing and would love to partner (where possible) with members that would like to share with this, so let me know if this is you (by email) so I can earmark you to partner with Marie.

Secondly a double milestone in welcoming Gina from the UK.  As well as being our first British resident to join our group she is also our 40th member to join.  I am just waiting to hear back from Gina with her preferences to partner her for the month.

Log cabin for Brigette

Brigette is my second swap partner for November.  I am trying to partner with all new members but with so many joining lately its hard for me to keep up so I do two per month.

One Australian and one Overseas.  Brigitte is my Overseas one for this month and this log cabin has a journey to Canada ahead of it.

Brigette requested a log cabin in Black white and red.  As I don't have a lot of black and white in my stash, I have made this with one half in black and red - a different twist. I am pleased with how it looks,
I hope Brigette thinks so too.
